Their relationship is one of dynamic tension. “Within that dynamic there is also a tension of attraction so it’s sort of push-pull relationship, but it makes for an exiting life. I think it was our mutual spiritual nature, mutual spiritual interest that draw us together and held us together because we are very different people.”, said Crow.

They devoid the house choirs in equal amounts. Bekki takes care of the garden in witch she puts a lot of effort. Most of the plants that she grows are medicinal plants from all over the world. They use the plants to make remedies for healing their clients. “When I started this garden it was more of a swamp because the land was getting flooded every year. Yard work never finishes but this is one of my passions and I find it very calming.”, said Bekki Shining Bearheart

Once at two weeks they go to gather wood from the forest just outside their property. “We use wood for heating the house and also for cooking because the food tastes a lot better. This is an important part of our lives maintaining and interacting with our environment.”, said Bekki.

Most of the evenings after all the to do’s for the day are cut of the list the couple relaxes in their own home surrounded by the five cats and one dog. They describe the animals like their children and most of the times during dinner the cats eat from their plates if they are not paying enough attention. “We love them all. Some of them we rescued and adopted after. Actually one of the cats just showed up in our house. We never found out how she got in the house and for some time she came and went, and one day she stayed.”, said Crow.

Crow Swimsaway and Bekki Shining Bearheart are shamanic healers, teachers and spiritual councillors who have been hitching shamanism together since 1982. “Shamanism is humankind oldest healing modality. It’s found amongst all people, or early people at least pretty much everywhere in the world and through out times nearly as we can tell. It’s a spiritual healing technique because the essential action of the shamanic work is journeying witch is going into trans and making the connexion with spirits and asking them for help.”, said Crow.

Every Wednesday night the couple gets together with friends that are also interested and practice shamanism for the Drumming circle. During the ceremony they take journeys and talking to spirits and send out energy for the members of the drumming circle and for their friends in need. “We journey to help others and it is very effective. You don’t need to be a shamanic person; it will help you no matter what your belief is. We done work on different topics from real estate problems, to immigration, to health problems and environmental issues.”, said Bekki.

“I don’t know what keeps our marriage together and sometimes each of us asks that question, but again there is a sort of a mutual sharing and a mutual attraction witch for 30 years managed to expand over any differences of style or approach to things.”, said Crow Swimsaway.
